One year after his near brush with death, Lamar Odom is reportedly blaming his association with reality TV for his downfall. The former NBA player appeared on Khloe & Lamar, a Keeping Up With the Kardashian spinoff series with his then-wife Khloe Kardashian.

Living up to the show's expectation and overexposure on television allegedly led him towards his fall. "Lamar's made it no secret to his family that he believes doing the Khloe & Lamar reality show was the beginning of his downfall. That type of television exposure made him feel uncomfortable and nervous and threw his whole basketball game off," a source close to the 36-year-old former athlete told Hollywood Life.

On 13 October 2015, Odom was discovered unconscious at Dennis Hof's Bunny Ranch in Crystal, Nevada. The former NBA champion was in coma for few days too. He endured constant health struggles including cognitive impairment, speech problems, and kidney damage

"He was trying to do way too much back then, pleasing Khloe and trying to be superman. The homie loved Khloe so much and put every one of her needs first and was trying too hard to live up to the Kardashian standards of fame and ultimately got caught up in the party scene as a result of being a reality star," the same source added.

Odom's overdose was often being blamed on his frequent night parties but now the father of three wants to lead a healthy lifestyle. "Lamar's life has become a lot more quiet. He is moving back to L.A. from N.Y. and away from some bad influences. He knows he needs to be in a good place to stay healthy. A lot of what happened last year is a blur for Lamar but he knows he almost didn't make it. There are so many people still rooting for Lamar — he's a good guy. But it's been very hard for him to keep his demons in check. He's had a hard life," a source told People.
