The design has refreshed Madonna's previous lip locking with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the Video Music Awards in 2003 attracting major criticism. While some have criticised Madonna for ruining their childhood others have labelled her as an anti-feminist.

"How is this girl power when you've just corrupted a little child's fairy tale," commented one follower under the picture. Another follower said: "Grew up idolising Madonna, now I just see an attention seeker who is really just frightened of getting older and making desperate attempts at controversy.

"Would this have got so many likes if it was a man of the same age kissing Peter Pan? Doubt it!" Some hailed the music legend's gesture and defending her with one follower saying: "What everybody is missing about this pic is that the princess doesn't need a man to save her." The artist behind the artwork has also created designs with the singer kissing Jasmine from Aladdin and Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
