Happy Birthday Mandy Moore! Rapunzel Turns 28! [PHOTOS]

American singer and actress Mandy Moore has proven her mettle across a fair number of entertainment and performance spaces. The New Hampshire-born star started her career as a singer and was reportedly inspired by the musical "Oklahoma".

The singer was a pop teenage sensation in the 1990s, releasing albums "So Real", "I Wanna Be With You" and "Mandy Moore". She has sold more than 10 million records worldwide and her latest album - "Amanda Leigh" - was released in 2009. In the early 2000s, she even hosted a talk show on MTV which was called "The Mandy Moore Show" and later called "Mandy".

Her modelling career focused primarily on assignments for skincare brand Neutrogena, for whom she was their official spokesperson and featured in print and commercial ads. She also modelled for Penshoppe and Coach handbags.

She starred in movies like "A Walk to Remember", "License to Wed" and "Chasing Liberty, Saved!" She recently gave her voice to the animated series "Tangled" - for the character of Rapunzel.

People magazine ranked her number five in "Most Beautiful" for their annual issue in April 2011 and at the 83rd Academy Awards, Moore performed "I see the Light" along with Zachary Levi, where it was nominated for "Best Original Song".

On her 28th birthday, Moore chose to go roller skating with her husband Ryan Adams and friend Minky Kelly.

"They had a small table which was decked out with birthday balloons and flashing lights. She was a good skater! They were there for a few hours on Saturday night and just blended in with the local crowd. Mandy was laughing with her friends as they went around the rink, trying to dance to the music. They all seemed to be having a good time," a source told the US Magazine.

The American must have really enjoyed the night, for she tweeted afterwards: "Thank you...for making the bday party evening a reality! Such a blast!!"

Incidentally, the friendship between Moore and Kelly may come as a surprise, given the two were, at different time, dating American actor Wilmer Valderrama, even though Kelly never officially confirmed their relationship.
