Marc Anthony is mourning the loss of his mother Guillermina Quiñones de Muñiz, who passed away on 27 July. The singer posted a message on Twitter to announce the sad news while remembering her as being his "rock" and "protector".

"Today at 12:10 pm my family's hero, our rock, our protector, inspiration and now ANGEL passed away," he wrote in English and Spanish. "She left in peace, accompanied by all your prayers and well wishes for which we thank you all. Mami, I'm going to miss you so much!"

Fans immediately responded to his message, offering their condolences. "Sending you all my love on this painful moment," one Twitter user wrote. "She'll always be with you and looking down at you. may she rest in peace."

The 47-year-old Grammy award winner's post followed a request from the singer to his fans, to keep his mother in their prayers. "Please pray for my mom today. I love you mommy," he wrote. Earlier this week he was also spotted at a hospital in Puerto Rico with his girlfriend, Raffaella Modugno.

The Latin legend confirmed his relationship with the Italian model and TV actress earlier this month prior to which he shared a photo together in May while celebrating Memorial Day.

He continues to share a good relationship with his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, who he was married to from 2004 to 2014. The two share nine-year-old twins Max and Emme. Anthony also has two children Cristian, 16, and Ryan, 13, with his first wife Dayanara Torres and daughter Ariana, 22, with ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado.

Following his split from Lopez, the You Sang To Me hitmaker married Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima in 2014 but finalized their divorce in February 2017.
