Dustin Lance Black, the boyfriend of British Olympic diver Tom Daley, has hit back at the leaked sex video of himself and an ex-lover.
Oscar-winning American screenwriter Black found the explicit video could be viewed on a US gossip website.
The film, shot in November 2006, shows him having unprotected sex with a former boyfriend called Jeff Delancy.
Shots of the movie were sent to Perez Hilton's celebrity gossip website in June 2009 after Black won a screenwriting Oscar for gay rights film Milk, starring Sean Penn as the titular Harvey Milk.
The photos then spread like wildfire to other websites. Black released a statement, clearly indicating his anger. "It is unfortunate that individuals are trying to profit from material which is clearly private.
"More important is the misleading message the images send."
A £1.8million lawsuit for invasion of privacy was filed and most sites removed the material.
Black is a founding board member of the American Foundation for Equal Rights which has been at the forefront of the campaign for gay marriage in the US.
Daley, who won a bronze medal at the London Games and has two Commonwealth Games golds, is thought to have been dating Black since March 2013.
The 19-year-old diver told UK chat show host Jonathan Ross it was "love at first sight".
Recently, the couple have been spotted house-hunting near the Olympic village in Stratford, so Daley can train at the nearby Olympic Park aquatic centre.
A source told The Sun: "Moving into his own place will mean the couple get to spend more time alone together."
Reports of Daley confirming he is gay was unexpected news to the father of the athlete's ex-girlfriend, diver Kassidy Cook. He told the Mirror: "It was a surprise to me. I thought they were dating."
Daley is the host of ITV's celebrity diving show Splash! and a second series has been commissioned.
