Taiwanese manufacturer HTC had unveiled its One Series of Android smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 which includes HTC One S. Expansys, the UK retailer, has now slashed the One S price which is around £100 less than the launch price.

HTC fans can now avail of the One S for £314.99. In addition, to entice the customers the retailer is offering a Krusell screen protector worth £19.90 for free. The deal is offered for the black Ceramic Metal model.

"There might be newer, shinier handsets on the horizon, but the One S remains a great phone, and represents good value at just over 300 quid," claims Android Central.

Perhaps, we could expect the launch of new HTC devices in the coming days. The Taiwanese major will be holding an event on 19 September in New York. The company remains tight-lipped in regard to the upcoming press conference; however, HTC fans could expect Windows Phone 8 smartphones at the event.

The One S is the thinnest in the series of HTC smartphones and features Beats Audio. It promises to offer a richer and realistic sound experience to users. Users can also have the benefit of a 25GB of Dropbox for free for two years. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz Krait dual-core CPU and Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon chipset. It packs an Adreno 225 GPU which offers support to powerful graphics.

It sports an eight megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging and face and smile detection. It offers video recording of 1080p with video stabilisation as well as a VGA secondary camera.

The One S runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system featuring resizable widgets, new lock screen actions and rich notifications. Plenty of custom ROMs based on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) are being ported on the smartphone letting users taste the goodness of Google's new OS. But users who wish to update their device with official Jelly Bean from the company will have to wait for the release. HTC has already confirmed the update for its three smartphones including One S, while the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
