'I Came to This Country as an Illegal Immigrant at 5': Nicki Minaj's Old Post Resurfaces After Trump 'Biggest Fan' Claim
AOC criticises Nicki Minaj's support for Trump amidst citizenship news.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has wasted no time tearing into Nicki Minaj following the rapper's public embrace of President Donald Trump.
The congresswoman branded the move a betrayal, accusing Minaj of turning on the immigrant community for 'personal gain' after she called herself the 'president's number one fan'. It is a sharp rebuke that drags the rapper's own history as an undocumented child into the centre of a heated political debate.
AOC Questions Rapper's Loyalty Amidst New Alliance
The democratic socialist congresswoman did not hold back when addressing Minaj's recent appearance alongside the President. Responding to a follower on Instagram who asked for her thoughts on the pair's budding relationship, Ocasio-Cortez framed the rapper's support as a betrayal of her background. She characterised the move as 'a formerly undocumented person turning on her own for personal gain'.
Ocasio-Cortez went further by questioning the continued devotion of Minaj's fanbase in light of these political developments. Clearly unimpressed by the 'Super Bass' singer calling herself the 'president's number one fan', the lawmaker added a yawning face emoji to her post. 'Who is even a barb at this point anyway,' she asked, referring to the dedicated collective of Minaj fans.

Past Struggles as an Undocumented Youth in Queens
The criticism from Ocasio-Cortez stems largely from Minaj's own history, which stands in contrast to the President's hardline policies. The rapper originally arrived in the US as an illegal immigrant from Trinidad at the age of five and was raised in Queens. Her personal experience with the immigration system previously led her to speak out against the administration.
In 2018, Minaj publicly denounced Trump's 'zero tolerance' crackdowns, specifically the practice of separating children from their parents at the US-Mexico border. At the time, she expressed deep empathy for those affected. 'I can't imagine the horror of being in a strange place and having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5. This is so scary to me. Please stop this,' she pleaded.

Embracing the 'Gold Card' and New Citizenship Status
Despite her past condemnation, the rapper's stance appears to have shifted dramatically following personal intervention from the president. She recently revealed that she has acquired a 'gold card' and is currently in the process of becoming a US citizen. Minaj credited the president directly for this development, praising his involvement in her case.
She expressed her gratitude on social media, describing the document as a 'Gold Trump card free of charge'. Minaj confirmed that she is now 'Finalising that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per my wonderful, gracious, charming president.' She added that she revealed Wednesday that the petition was essential to her success, stating, 'I wouldn't have done it without you.'
Residency? Residency? The cope is coping. 😅
