Overview

Chennai Super Kings pulled off a breathtaking four-wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore from the last ball on Saturday, to hand Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side their second win of the season. The Super Kings needed two runs from the last ball when RP Singh overstepped his lines, which allowed Ravindra Jadeja to take a single despite being held out at third man and secure a victory.

Jadeja was the star of the show, scoring 38 runs from only 20 balls alongside Dhoni who scored 33 of 23, coming late down the order. The Indian captain will however be worried by the performance of his bowlers, where Chris Morris stole the show with three wickets, but gave away 40 runs at an economy of 10 runs an over. The win gave Chennai their second win of the season after a disappointing start to the campaign where they lost to Mumbai Indians but came back with a 10 wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in their next match.

Pune Warriors are in dire straits yet again, having suffered the ignominy of finishing in the bottom two spots in the previous two seasons and are in desperate need of a win to establish themselves back in the running for a place in the knockouts. Their only win in the tournament came against the Rajasthan Royals where they got the better of Rahul Dravid's side by seven wickets in their third match, while losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians in the remaining three matches.

Pune's main problem has been their batting, which has failed to click on a regular basis leading to a dearth of runs this season. The Warriors have failed to cross the 150 run mark in any game this season, while twice succumbing to a score below 105, against Punjab(99) and Hyderabad(104). Their bowling attack has also come under attack, with Ashok Dinda bowling the most expensive over of the IPL this season, conceding 63 runs from this four overs. Last year's star performer Steven Smith has failed to make his way into the team while foreign players like Ross Taylor and Mitchell Marsh have been more of a baggage than a contributor to the team.
