Lidl has issued an urgent recall of a popular kitchen appliance over safety concerns. The discount supermarket chain is warning customers that the Tower 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer (model code T17129L) is at risk of overheating, posing a potential fire hazard.

The recall affects units sold in Lidl stores across the UK, and customers are urged to stop using the product immediately.

Why the Tower Air Fryer Is Being Recalled

According to The Independent, Lidl released a public warning after identifying a safety issue with the Tower air fryer. The manufacturer, Tower, confirmed the voluntary recall, saying it is being carried out to uphold 'the highest standards of safety and quality'.

'We recently identified a potential issue with certain Tower air fryer models and are conducting a voluntary recall to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality,' the company said in a statement.

Tower added: 'If you own an affected model, we're here to make the process as simple as possible.'

What Lidl Customers Should Do

If you own the Tower 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer with model code T17129L, you should stop using it immediately. To arrange a return, you can:

  • Contact Lidl customer care via email at customer.care@lidl.co.uk
  • Call 0203 966 5566 for assistance
  • Visit www.tower-safety.co.uk for instructions from the manufacturer

When reaching out, have your model number, photographs of the unit, and your contact details (email, phone number, and address) ready. Customers with affected units are eligible for a free replacement or a full refund.

'We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation,' Lidl said in its statement.

Fire Risk Considered Low But Precaution Advised

Tower assured customers that the fire risk is considered low by Trading Standards. However, the company is recalling the product as a precautionary measure.

'The safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority,' the company stated.

What To Do If the Air Fryer Overheats

If the air fryer overheats during use, unplug it immediately and allow it to cool down for at least 30 minutes. Ensure that there is ample space around the unit for airflow. Afterward, store the product safely and contact Lidl or Tower for further action.

No other Tower products are currently affected by this recall.
