Overview

M S Dhoni's men could not emerge victorious against South Africa on their last tour in December 2013, losing the three-match ODI series 2-0. India failed to chase the total set by their hosts, crashing to heavy defeats in the first two matches while rain played spoilsport in the third game.

India will look to put behind their disappointment when they take on New Zealand in the first ODI.

Brendon McCullum will be disappointed that his side could not win against the West Indies in a five-match ODI series a few days ago.

The series ended in a 2-2 draw as New Zealand succumbed to a mere 160 runs in the last ODI while chasing a target of 364 runs set by the visitors. McCullum's side were lucky to win the fourth ODI on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
