Tottenham Boss Ready To Unleash Immense £30m Signing Lamela

Andre Villas-Boas is ready to bring the club's record signing Eric Lamela into the Tottenham Hotspur starting XI and the manager is confident the Argentine will have no problem asserting himself in the club's vibrant attack.

The £30m signing from AS Roma made has made brief appearances as a substitute during Tottenham's recent games against Arsenal and Norwich as a late substitute, but has not yet been giving to chance to showcase his talent in a starting berth.

Tottenham's other two attacking signings Roberto Soldado and Christian Eriksen have taken to the Premier League with ease, and the Spurs boss is confident the Argentine's qualities will become apparent very soon, suggesting he could make his full debut in the Europa League this week.

"His qualities are immense, they are not in doubt, but we just didn't have enough time with him due to his late arrival in the transfer window and the international game he played," Villas-Boas told a press conference.

"It was finally good for us to have a few days training with the team and there is a possibility (he could start against Tromso in Tottenham's Europa League tie on Thursday).

"He is selected for the game and a player of his quality will threaten to be in the team very soon. "

The summer signings of Lamela and Eriksen suggest Spurs will operate with a more fluid front line this season lead by the prolific Soldado.

The 21-year-old Argentine's versatility across the front line will be a key asset for Spurs, Villas-Boas suggests, as he earmarks the forward to be a reliable creative force.

"He has played in different positions up front from a young age," the Spurs boss added. "When he left River Plate, first he played behind the striker, then on the left, then as a right winger.

"The experience he has in three positions means he is creative in all three positions."

The Tottenham manager also confirmed that Belgian international Nacer Chadli and winger Aaron Lennon will not play a part in the club's opening Europa League tie.

Chadli will be rested ahead of the trip to Cardiff City at the weekend while Lennon continues to recover from a foot injury with his manager hopeful he will be back in contention in "a couple of weeks."
