Celine Dion was all smiles as she debuted on the Met Gala 2017 red carpet in a black and silver gown by Atelier Versace. Before the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the songstress said she was excited for the evening, but agreed that the preparation for fashion's biggest night was 'nerve-wracking'.

"This is my first met gala. This is overwhelming, exciting, nerve-wracking," she told ET Online. "I don't know where how to stand, where to look. [I'm] seeing everyone I see on TV, [but I'm] not quite sure if it's really them," Dion told ET's Carly Steel on the red carpet. "I'm like, 'It can't be true!'"

The 49-year-old singer looked regal in her custom made gown which she accessorised with a black dramatic headpiece and diamond studs. Though Dion looked like a diva at the glittery event, she insisted that she no idea how to handle everything. "I'm used to premieres, but this is my first Met Gala. I'm not quite sure I know what I'm doing.

"It's all like, the preparation of this whole thing, they said 'You're gonna have such a great time, it's so fun!' Well, it might be fun in a couple of hours after a drink, but right now, it's like a shock. It's like, 'Don't open the dress too much, don't close it.' They want to see it, they don't want to see it. You don't want to fall on the stairs, do over the shoulder, it doesn't move, but make it loose it can move. It's a lot."

Dion has spent many months mourning her husband Rene Angelil, who died in 2016. With her glowing presence at the event, it appears the songstress is trying to move on.

Explaining how her stylist Law Roache helped her heal after her husband's death she said: "[Roach] brought me out of my closet and now flowers are growing."
