Kate Middleton's style statement has earned her several admirers back home, but the Duchess of Cambridge seems to be on her way to winning hearts of the East as well, as she begins her first official Asia tour with Prince William to mark Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Prince William and Kate Middleton kick started their nine day tour of the Southeast Asia and the South Pacific as they arrived at Singapore, their first leg of the travel, on 11 September.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Orchid Garden in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, which is the first stop for the their three-day tour of the city-state, where Kate absolutely mesmerised people with her simple choice of dress, honouring the eastern culture.

During their visit to the orchid garden, Kate opted to look the eastern way as she donned a kimono-style peach dress by British designer Jenny Packham. Her knee-length outfit, featuring orchid floral print, seemed to be the theme dress for the occasion as William and she got the honour of having an orchid hybrid named after them as Vanda William Catherine. Kate completed her ensemble with a pair of matching stilettos, pearl drop earrings and a clutch bag. Though she let her hair loose, the usually glossy blow-dry front stresses were pinned back.

The National Orchid Garden also has orchids, called Dendrobium Memoria, named after Princess Diana. The orchid was named in memory of princess of Wales on 22 September 1997, just a week before her death. William and Kate spent some quiet moments looking at the Princess Diana orchids at the garden – a moment that reminded of the couple's Canada tour in July last year when they paid a quiet homage to Diana, looking at a hemlock tree planted at Rideau Hall in Ottawa by the late princess during her royal tour of Canada in 1983.

William and Kate are staying at Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The royal couple will also visit Malaysia, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu, where they will take part in a number of events. According to an earlier IBTimes UK report, Catherine will make her first overseas speech in Kuala Lumpur.
