30 people were injured as Typhoon Vicente battered Hong Kong with gale-force winds and torrential rain, grounding flights and shutting port operations.

This footage shows the famous Hong Kong skyline battered by bad weather. Streets are empty as shop awnings and street signs have been blown off. Rain is pouring down in sheets and blown across roads. One lone brave woman strolls through an empty bus terminal. While workmen struggle in rain gear to remove heavy trees which have been uprooted.

Shops, offices and even the stock exchange had to remain closed for at least part of the morning following the powerful typhoon.

It has just been reported from Chinese state media that Typhoon Vicente is continuing on it's destructive path as it has now reached southern China's Guangdong province, where it has brought fierce winds and downpours, after wreaking havoc in neighbouring Hong Kong.
