Bruce Jenner stands to spend up to $250,000 (£163,000) if he goes through with a full gender reassignment, a top Beverly Hills plastic surgeon has claimed.

Speaking to, Dr Ghavami, a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine, said the Olympian-turned-reality star would require multiple procedures to become a woman.

Hair removal, rhinoplasty, voice therapy, liposuction and facelifts are just some of the measures that transgender clients undergo as part of their feminisation makeover.

"This includes removal of testicles (orchiectomy) and removal of penile tissue to create a vaginal vault and labia which could cost between $50,000 to $100,000, or more, depending on post-op recovery stay," he told the site. "Many people go to Thailand for this but in the US it is pricier."

While a buttock augmentation that includes liposuction could set him back between $15,000 and $20,000, silicone breast implants would cost around $12,000.

"Hair removal on his face or chest, where at least 8 to 10 sessions are sometimes needed, could total from $2,500 to $5,000," Dr Ghavami added.

Jenner has been the focus of sex-change rumours after he reportedly had his Adam's apple surgically reduced, a common procedure by men seeking gender reassignment. He also allegedly started taking oestrogen and asked to be referred to as "Brigitte".

While the 65-year-old star has refused to address the mounting transgender claims, his step-daughter Kim Kardashian described it as "his journey".

"I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he'll share whenever the time is right. I feel like that's his journey to talk about," she told Entertainment Tonight.

Meanwhile it has been revealed that Jenner is leaving the Keeping up with the Kardashians franchise to launch his own series for the E! Network, documenting his reported gender transition.
