The Galaxy Nexus i9250 gets another custom ROM - JRO03L - an Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update. The ROM is also called EaglesBlood and offers all the latest features, including a smoother interface, an enhanced and customisable notifications centre, voice recognition-assisted Google Search and Google Now information services, a smart keyboard, a faster browser, etc. The JRO03L ROM also ports its own custom kernel for faster performance, besides adding customisation features based on its integrated EB Options control mod.

Important

  • The ROM and the instructions provided in this guide are applicable only for the international GSM Galaxy Nexus i9250 model. Verify device's model number through Settings > About Phone
  • IBTimes UK advises users to backup apps, important data and settings to avoid risk of data loss while installing Jelly Bean update. Users are advised to backup APN settings (needed to re-establish connection to mobile data network). To backup APN settings, go to Settings > More > Mobile Networks, click on APN in use and note down the settings in each field
  • It is mandatory to unlock bootloader on Galaxy Nexus (GSM) and install ClockworkMod Recovery before proceeding with JRO03L ROM based Jelly Bean update

How to Install JRO03L EaglesBlood ROM Based Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy Nexus

Step 1: Download latest version of JRO03L EaglesBlood ROM from EaglesBlood downloads page. Make sure you verify the ROM belongs to the Galaxy Nexus

Step 2: Also download Google Apps package (located at above link). Do not install any other Gapps file for this ROM

Step 3: Without extracting, copy downloaded zip files to phone

Step 4: Power off phone and boot into TWRP or CWM recovery. To do so, press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons until screen powers on. Now navigate to Recovery mode option using Volume buttons and select using Power button to reboot in Recovery.

Step 5: Now, click Backup and then slide blue circle button at bottom to the right to start backing up existing ROM. Once backup is done, return to main menu by clicking Home button at bottom left of screen

Step 6: Tap Install, locate ROM file downloaded in Step 1 and confirm installation to flash it

Step 7: Once ROM is installed, repeat Step 6 but this time select GApps file to flash Google Apps package. Confirm GApps flashing

Step 8: Choose Wipe and then tap Factory Reset. Click Yes to confirm data wipe. Please note this procedure will not wipe internal SD card contents. Return to main menu by tapping the home button once wipe is complete

Step 9: After wipe process completes, tap Reboot System to reboot the phone into Eaglesblood ROM. First boot may be time-consuming and take about five to seven minutes

Note: If you wish to restore previous ROM, boot into Recovery, choose Restore and recover previous ROM by selecting from the list

Eaglesblood ROM based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now installed on the Galaxy Nexus.
