GTA 6 social media will include working feeds as Rockstar Games builds a modern Vice City shaped by celebrity culture, appearances and fast-moving trends. Players will be able to browse the feeds through the in-game phone while exploring Leonida, while hands-off previews have also described posts that may lead towards characters or events in the open world.

The news came after Dazed published an extensive look at Grand Theft Auto VI, including interviews with members of Rockstar's development team and people who have worked on the game's world.

Miami-based stylist Jillian Carr, who has worked with Rockstar since 2023, explained how heavily appearance influences the studio's version of Vice City.

'Vice City is built around vanity. Between social media, celebrity culture and a constant flow of tourists, appearances carry significant weight, and trend cycles turn over quickly,' Carr said.

That philosophy goes beyond the phone. Rockstar has also developed a more varied population intended to reflect different locations, lifestyles and social environments across Leonida.

GTA 6 Social Media Feeds Connect Players With Leonida

Working social media feeds are among the clearest confirmed additions to GTA 6's in-game phone system.

Dazed described a scenario in which Jason Duval can drive while Lucia Caminos sits in the passenger seat and scrolls through the phone. It shows that the device can remain part of the experience even while players are moving through the world.

Hands-off preview reporting has revealed further details about how the feeds may interact with Leonida. Previewers have reported that certain posts can point players towards characters, locations or events occurring elsewhere in the game.

That distinction matters. Rockstar has confirmed that working feeds exist, while several of the more detailed mechanics surrounding them have emerged through invited preview sessions rather than Rockstar's own published material.

Apps identified through preview reporting include BuckMe, RydeMe, Scooter Bros, WhatUp, Waink, Snapmatic and a fitness app. Rockstar has not released a comprehensive official directory explaining every application.

Preview coverage has described Waink as a vehicle-focused tool associated with car theft gameplay. Other reported apps appear to cover transport, communication, money and fitness.

The phone therefore looks set to do considerably more than handle calls and messages. Social feeds can provide another way for players to see what is happening across Leonida while they continue exploring.

GTA 6 Uses Vice City's Vanity to Shape Its Population

Social media is closely tied to Rockstar's approach to fashion, celebrity and personal appearance.

Carr's description presents Vice City as an environment where trends change quickly and appearances carry social weight. Rockstar's character teams have tried to reflect that through the people filling its streets.

The population includes a broader variety of ages, heights, body shapes, tattoos, piercings and clothing styles. Characters are also being designed to fit more naturally with the areas they occupy rather than making pedestrians look interchangeable across Leonida.

Jamie-Lee Lloyd, Rockstar's senior art director for characters, said the company developed new tools and production systems for its character population.

Appearance is only part of that effort. Rockstar is also combining character design with movement, interactions and behaviour to give individual areas their own identity.

Social media fits naturally into that world. A city preoccupied with status and image gives Rockstar plenty of room to satirise online fame, influencers and celebrity culture without separating those ideas from the wider open world.

Real Dimez Bring GTA 6's Viral Stories to Life

Real Dimez offer one of the clearest examples of social media becoming part of GTA 6's character storytelling.

The rap duo consists of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since high school who are chasing success through music, viral videos and what Rockstar describes as a 'relentless social media presence'.

Their past includes a hit with local rapper DWNPLY, while the duo are now signed to Only Raw Records and trying to build another successful chapter in their careers.

Dazed reported that players will be able to follow Real Dimez's rise through viral posts appearing on the game's social feeds. That gives the phone a narrative purpose alongside its role in reflecting Vice City's culture.

Players may therefore learn about developing stories without encountering every character through a conventional mission or cutscene.

GTA V already featured fictional online services including Lifeinvader and Bleeter. GTA 6 appears to push that digital satire further by making working social feeds more closely connected to its characters and modern setting.

Rockstar Games is scheduled to release Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
