Overview

Team India have been a dominant force at home against every side that faces them off late, however they got a reality check in the first Test against in Rajkot when England dominated large parts of the game, needing the hosts to fight it out for a draw.

For the first time this summer off-spinner R Ashwin who is their main match-winner struggled with the ball picking up three wickets for 230 runs while his partner in crime Ravindra Jadeja failed to make an impact on his home ground taking three wickets for 133 runs.

The Indian batsman, in particular Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay looked in good touch as seen by their centuries in the first innings while the team management will know if the players such as Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Virat Kohli are yet to fire.

The hosts will welcome back opener KL Rahul from injury and he is set to replace Gautam Gambhir (whose Test career might be over) while they might look to bring in Ishant Sharma for Umesh Yadav.

Moeen Ali was named the player of the match in the first Test for scoring 117 runs and picking up three crucial wickets getty

The visitors England put their horror show against Bangladesh behind them to impress everyone with their performances during the draw against the hosts in the first Test. Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Haseeb Hameed, Adil Rashid and skipper Alastair Cook made crucial contributions with four of the batsman scoring tons while Rashid had arguably his best game with the ball for his country.

What would have made the team management happy would be the performance of Hameed on debut with the batsman showing brilliant temperament while coach Trevor Bayliss also praised the performance of his team in the field, calling this the best performance of the team under his supervision.

With the pitch at Visakhapatnam expected to assist turn from Day 2, the visitors are expected to go in with the same squad which means that pacer James Anderson will miss out once again.
