Pop icon Katy Perry has confessed that she lived a booze-free life for three months as part of her healing process following her split from husband Russell Brand.

"You know, I did a lot of different things. I surrounded myself with my good friends, I did this whole cleanse where I didn't have any alcohol for three months -- that was devastating -- I did vitamins and supplements, and hikes and meditation and prayer," Perry confessed.

"Ultimately, there wasn't any one particular thing that helped her move on. I think at the end of it all, as much as the things I did, I think there was something cosmically happening that was looking out for me in some ways. But I was putting my best positive foot forward," she added.

She also spoke of how the whole situation brought her down and how she bounced back.

"That positivity didn't come easy, though. It's fun to laugh at it now. It wasn't fun to laugh at it then. You know, I was going through a period where a lot of negative thoughts were entering my mind. Obviously they did not succeed, but I had my confidence kind of beaten down," she stated.

Perry had stated recently that Brand "really wanted to have babies" but she was not ready to make the necessary sacrifices.

The 29-year-old singer told Marie Clare magazine that she was scared Brand was trying to make her a stay-at-home mother.

"I think it was a way of control. I think it was part of, 'If I have a kid, then I would have to sacrifice - I'd have to be home more.' I really wanted to but I knew I wasn't ready for it," she said

Brand reportedly began dating socialite Jemima khan a few months ago but they split soon after and he declared he is single now.
