Maluma has never been shy about speaking his mind on stage. Over the weekend, the Colombian music star made headlines for calling out a fan he believed was putting a child at risk.

The 31-year-old 'Sobrio' singer halted his concert in Mexico City to reprimand a woman who had brought a baby to the show without any ear protection.

'With all due respect... how old are they?' Maluma asked in Spanish, directing the question at the mother while pointing to the child in her arms. 'A year old? Less? A year.'

In footage of the exchange, shared widely on X, the reggaeton artist questioned the decision to bring such a young child to a high-decibel performance. 'Do you think it's a good idea to bring a 1-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are this f—— high?' he said, according to a translation from Variety. 'That baby doesn't even know what it's doing here.'

Maluma, whose real name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias, continued: 'Next time, protect their ears or something. For real. It's heavy. It's your responsibility. You're waving them around like they're a toy. That baby doesn't want to be there, for real. I'm telling you with all love and respect, now that I'm a father... would never bring them to a concert. For the next time, be a bit more aware.'

Fatherhood Has Reframed His Priorities

The chart-topping performer became a father in March 2024, welcoming a daughter, Paris Londoño Gómez, with his long-time partner Susana Gómez. The couple announced the news in a joint Instagram post.

'On March 9th at 8:23 a.m., the love of our lives, Paris Londoño Gómez, was born. Thank you all for your birthday messages and well wishes,' they wrote in Spanish.

Since then, Maluma has spoken candidly about how fatherhood has shifted his priorities. 'Everything changed. And I love it,' he told Allure in 2024. 'Now, I wake up every day with the desire to conquer the world. I know I have to f------ kill it. For Paris, nothing is impossible. You have to lead by example. I go to bed every night that I can at 9 and wake up at 5:30 to hit the gym because I want to be healthy. You want to live forever for your kids. I want to make her proud.'

Who is Susana Gómez?

While Maluma is one of Latin music's most recognisable faces, the mother of his child prefers to keep a lower profile.

According to Hola!, the Colombian singer was first linked to Gómez in late 2020, though the details of their initial meeting remain unclear. They became Instagram official in December 2021 when Maluma posted – and later archived – a blurry photo of the pair kissing.

Gómez, now 31, is an architect and interior designer by profession. She has also ventured into jewellery design through Sileo Timeless, a brand specialising in Colombian handmade pieces. In stark contrast to Maluma's public persona, Gómez keeps her Instagram account private and rarely appears in interviews.

Fans have speculated that Maluma's 2022 single 'Junio' was inspired by Gómez, citing lyrics such as: 'You give me heat as if it was summer in June / How cool would it be if you were my girlfriend... Celestial eyes, ocean of the Turks and Caicos / With you, I don't need the ocean / You are my sun'.

Born on 11 November 1992, Gómez is two years older than Maluma, who was born on 28 January 1994. Together, they are parents to one child, with no public plans for expanding their family – at least for now.

Tour Life, Family First

Maluma's remarks to the concertgoer came amid the final leg of his +Pretty +Dirty World Tour, which is scheduled to wrap up on 23 August in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Maluma often gives fans a glimpse into his home life, sharing heartfelt family photos with partner Susana Gómez and their daughter, Paris.

Even with a packed touring calendar, the artist has made it clear that family comes first. Sharing news of Paris's birth, he publicly thanked Gómez for 'fulfilling my biggest dream of being a father', adding that he loved her and their daughter 'with all my heart'.

For the singer, fatherhood appears to have heightened his awareness about safety – especially when it comes to children in adult spaces. His onstage admonition in Mexico City was blunt, but delivered, he said, 'with all love and respect'.

As for Gómez, she remains largely out of the spotlight, but her influence on Maluma's personal and creative life is evident – not just in his music, but in the way he now approaches the world as both a performer and a parent.
