Miley Cyrus' Home Robbery: $100k Worth Stuff Stolen/Reuters

Pop icon Miley Cyrus' house had been burgled on her birthday weekend with several luxury items stolen from her Los Angeles home.

The LAPD said an investigation was ongoing after reports that $100,000 of item were stolen, including a collection of jewellery and purses, during the lunchtime raid.

"She's extremely upset and a lot of personal items were stolen.She is really shaken up about the whole thing," sources stated.

Cyrus had reportedly celebrated her 21st birthday with an eight-hour party at the MTV studios.

"The TV party will begin with 21 Candles: Miley's MTV Moments, an hour-long special highlighting the 21 reasons why fans love the megastar, including Miley's best MTV moments of all time," MTV had said a statement.

Also featured were clips from her music videos and performances, as well as comments from celebrities. Cyrus also re-aired MTV's documentary Miley: The Movement Deluxe Edition with new commentary, and there were also episodes of her favourite MTV shows, Snooki & JWoww and Awkward.

Recent controversy

Cyrus's recent performances have been criticised as setting a bad example for young female fans. Her sexually provocative photo shoot with Terry Richardson also drew criticism, as did her performance at the MTV VMAs with Robin Thicke.

Cyrus has had a very eventful year, which also saw her split with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
