What's Going on With Carrie Underwood? Farm Life Allegedly Taking a Toll on the Country Star

KEY POINTS
- The singer's sprawling property includes fruit trees, vegetables, animals and an orchard.
- Report claims farm work and repairs are taking a toll on Underwood's health and rest.
Carrie Underwood may project the image of a serene country life on social media, but behind the picture-perfect posts, the daily grind of farm living is reportedly starting to wear her down.
According to RadarOnline, the 42-year-old singer has been enduring sleepless nights as she juggles repairs, gardening and animal care on the sprawling 400-acre property she shares with husband Mike Fisher and their two young sons in Franklin, Tennessee.
Endless To-Do List
The Before He Cheats hitmaker, who built a greenhouse last year to grow her own fruit and vegetables, is said to be facing a mountain of work that stretches far beyond simple hobby gardening. A source told the outlet that her days involve 'shovelling hay, weeding, fertilising and harvesting', on top of tending to fruit trees, multiple gardens, and a range of farm animals.
'It doesn't help that she's had a hard time finding and keeping hired hands', the insider claimed, adding that what looks idyllic on Instagram can feel exhausting in real life.
Underwood has not publicly addressed the report, and Fisher has remained silent. The couple purchased the property in 2011, a year after their wedding, but only moved in full-time following her 2017 fall at their Brentwood home, which left her needing close to 50 facial stitches and wrist surgery.
Beauty and the Bees
Her online updates, however, show both the charms and challenges of her rural set-up. In June, Underwood posted photos from her blueberry orchard, sharing that she stumbled upon a rat snake while picking fruit.
'I love praying out loud in the orchard... it's so beautiful and peaceful', she wrote. 'I was about 15 seconds into my chat when I was surprised by a snake in the blueberry bush... just as I began to pray. It obviously made me think... about God... about the devil. The devil is always there... lurking... even when we feel at our closest with God'.
On a less spiritual note, she also revealed that the same month her orchard had been invaded by thousands of bees, forcing her to retreat while the swarm built a giant nest.
A Self-Sufficient Dream
Over the years, Underwood has embraced home-grown living with enthusiasm, raising everything from mandarins and limes to wild strawberries, carrots, beets, tomatoes and squash. Her orchard boasts apple and peach trees alongside blueberry and blackberry shrubs, and she keeps a separate garden for mushrooms, zucchinis, squash blossoms and watermelons.
She often shares recipes made from her harvest, recently showing jars of soup and pie filling she had preserved for future use. In an earlier Instagram post, she called her garden her 'happy place'.
Balancing Fame and Farm Work
The country star's dedication to her land has coincided with a busy professional life. Underwood has been a judge on American Idol, continued touring, and recorded music while raising her children and managing the property.
RadarOnline's source suggested the strain was cumulative. 'It's not just about keeping the place looking nice for photos', they said. 'It's a constant, physical job that doesn't really have a day off'.
Whether the challenges will prompt her to step back from the more demanding chores remains to be seen. For now, Underwood continues to share her rural routines with 12 million Instagram followers, offering glimpses of both the joys and the unpredictable hazards of life off the stage.
