Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has opened up about her failed marriage to actor Orlando Bloom, saying they still love and care for each other.

"We still love and care for each other deeply. I didn't go home to Australia recently because Orlando was working six days a week in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway and it's not fair to take Flynn and go without him," Kerr explained.

"We're trying to do our best to support each other. It's difficult for anyone to go through a separation, whether it's on a public scale or not," she said.

"It was important for us to preserve our friendship and the dynamic of being loving parents to Flynn so we dealt with everything honestly," Kerr added.

Meanwhile, a representative of Bloom told E! News Kerr and the actor have been amicably separated for the past few months. "After six years together, they have recently decided to formalise their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family," the spokesperson said.

The couple had got together in 2007 and Kerr gave birth to their son Flynn in January 2011. They were last pictured together at the opening night of Bloom's Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet on 19 September.

Meanwhile, Bloom is reportedly getting over his split from Kerr, and was spotted moving close to his former Lord of the Rings co-star Liv Tyler.

According to Star magazine, the 36-year-old actor and daughter of Aerosmith's lead singer, Steven Tyler, were getting "cosy backstage" at the opening night of a Broadway production of Waiting for Godot.
