Trendsetting pop star Rihanna has managed to turn an iPhone case into the latest must-have after stepping out with an edgy take on the accessory.

The 24-year-old singer was spotted in New York with an aluminium case shaped as a knuckleduster.

The case, which added a touch of cool to RiRi's outfit, is from accessory website Knucklecase.com and costs $99 (£60).

According to a company representative, the case was originally purchased by a paparazzo, who gave it to the star, 23, during her recent holiday in Hawaii.

The Knucklecase spokesperson told the Daily Mail: "She loved it and it hasn't left her hand ever since."

And what better endorsement for a new product that to have a superstar use it?

Complete with finger hoops, the cover guarantees that users never drop their precious handsets.

The website also promises that the "knockout accessory" that has "looks to kill" will toughen up any iPhone.

A disclaimer on the site, however, reads: "This product is to be used only as a handle and protective accessory for an iPhone.

"By purchasing this product, you agree to hold the company harmless [sic] for any misuse of the product, which results in damage to yourself or third parties."
