Gloria Zamora, a well-known fitness advocate and mother of seven, was fatally murdered on June 21 outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana, California. The event also took the life of her companion, the 43-year-old Hector Garduno. The gunman was Zamora's estranged husband, 45-year-old Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga.

According to officials, Lizarraga confronted Zamora and Garduno in the restaurant parking lot and opened fire. An off-duty San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy nearby responded by shooting and killing Lizarraga on the spot.

Ongoing Police Investigation and Case Developments

Fontana Police and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing. Officers are reconstructing the shooting timeline based on forensic data such as surveillance footage and ballistic reports.

According to officials, Zamora and Lizarraga were divorcing and had a documented history of marital troubles. According to experts, separation periods increase the chance of domestic abuse.

The off-duty constable who intervened has not been recognised, but his prompt action avoided further casualties. Lizarraga is deceased, so no charges will be made.

Social Media and Community Response

Zamora's daughter, Jazlynne, has started a GoFundMe campaign to support her six younger siblings after their mother's death. The fundraiser has garnered considerable support, emphasising both the financial and emotional impact on the family.

Social media users have rallied around hashtags such as #JusticeForGloria and #StopDomesticViolence, demanding for more legal protections and increased awareness of domestic abuse.
