A pre-kick off of sorts to the Bollywood awards season took place on Tuesday, 22 December, in Mumbai, India, where the best of 2015 were honoured at the Sony Guild Awards 2015.

Recently released period drama Bajirao Mastani won a total of nine awards, including best director, best cinematography, best art direction, best sound design, best costume design, best dialogue, best choreography, best actor in a supporting role and best actor in leading role. The other big hit of the year - Bajrangi Bhaijaan starring Salman Khan, won four awards, including best film along with best screenplay, best story and best actor in a supporting role.

Bollywood stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khuranna and Priyanka Chopra added to the glamour quotient by performing to some of the superhit songs. Popular television host-turned actor Kapil Sharma of Comedy Nights with Kapil fame, hosted the event

Promising debut female: Bhumi Pednekar - Dum Laga Ke Haisha
