Overview
Southampton come into the game after a 3-1 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park in their last league tie. Maya Yoshida's eighth minute goal gave the Saints an early lead, but the joy was cut short when Matthew Jarvis equalised for the Hammers.
Carlton Cole and Kevin Nolan's goals on either side of half-time gave West Ham the three points. Southampton have managed just two wins in their last five matches in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool enter the weekend fixture after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Rodgers's former club Swansea City at Anfield. Two goals from Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson gave the Reds a much needed win over the Welsh club.
The Merseyside club are fourth in the table with 56 points from 27 games while their weekend opponents are in 18th position with 24 points.
What the Managers Say
Mauricio Pochettino: "Liverpool are playing a 4-3-3 system and it could be Suarez is playing on the right facing Luke Shaw - so he could have a chance to defend against him. If Luke has been called up to the English national side it is because he can do well against any opponent."
Brendan Rodgers: "Southampton have evolved with a good coach. Mauricio inherited good players from Nigel Adkins and Alan Pardew before that. We've seen the natural improvement of those players and he has organised them well."
