The U.N. monitors who were caught up in violence in the northern town of Khan Sheikhoun in Syria have remained in the area overnight.

Major General Robert Mood, chief of the UN monitoring mission confirmed the observers situation

Unverified Internet footage, which activists said was filmed in Khan Sheikhoun shows the moment the four UN vehicles came under attack.People are screaming and running everywhere after the bomb blast. It is believed the vehicles were hit by an improvised explosive device and three were damaged. The vehicles then move away quickly. A close up can be seen of the mangled remains one of the white UN vehicles.

Following this blast, the United Nations office in Damascus declined at first to comment on the incident. There have been no reported casualties and the observers are now safely with Free Syrian Army rebels in another part of the town..
