Meghan Markle has announced that she is closing down her lifestyle blog The Tig.

The 35-year-old launched the "passion project" in 2014, but said that after three years of blogging it was time to call it a day.

Writing on the site's homepage and on Instagram The Suits star said: "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig.

"What began as a passion project evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity."

Thanking her followers for their support she added: "You've made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being the change you wish to see in the world.

"Above all, don't ever forget your worth - as I've told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything."

The blog articles, in which she shared tips on travel, beauty, food, lifestyle and romance have been removed, leaving just a collage of images of her supporters.

The announcement has prompted royal watchers to speculate that Markle's blossoming romance with Prince Harry may have been behind her decision to end her blog.

While the Canadian actress is due to start filming the next season of Suits this month, there is also speculation that she plans to turn her back on acting as she focuses on her humanitarian work.

According to E! Online a source claims that the actress is ready to refocus some of her interest and goals to build a future with the prince.

"She knows that a future with Harry will mean refocusing some of the interests and goals she had before they met but she is ready for that," claimed the insider.

"She has achieved so much in her life, she's been a huge success and she is satisfied to be by his side while he faces the life he was born into. She can't wait to start this next chapter with him."

Since going public with their relationship the pair have been jetting between Markle's hometown of Toronto and London for a string of low-key dates, including a trip to the Natural History Museum.

She accompanied the prince to Tom Inskip's Jamaican wedding in March and it was reported that she spent the majority of the first part of 2017 in the Kensington Palace cottage following their New Year's break in Norway.

According to reports, the 32-year-old prince is moving into a new apartment in Kensington Palace where he plans to set up home with his wife-to-be.
