Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, who underwent an abdominal surgery, is recovering well.

According to reports the surgery went as expected and one of Bollywood's most celebrated legends is likely to be discharged on Feb. 12.

"There is pain, but nothing good in life ever achieved without it," he tweeted last night, post the surgery.

The 69-year-old actor, incidentally, finds it very hard to stay away from his micro-blogging account on Twitter. Indeed, the senior Bachchan (@SrBachchan) is one of the most active members of the Bollywood industry! You can imagine, therefore, the agony of spending all that time away from his keyboard. Fortunately, the fact that he had to undergo two surgeries simultaneously was forceful enough a reason to allow him some rest!

"Back...!! Thank you for your prayers... your love and wishes never fail... indebted for life, one that I shall never be able to pay back. Took almost 5 hrs on the OT, but could feel the concern and wishes every minute... you all are incredible... thank you," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, his son Abhishek Bachchan (also something of a Bollywood legend) told media personnel: "It was a minor surgery, but lasted two to three hours. He is in the recovery room and his condition is stable. He is hale and hearty. He is talking. He has to rest it out. If all goes well, he will be discharged tomorrow."
