Andy Murray and Heather Watson suffered defeat in mixed doubles action as Great Britain lost 2-1 to Poland in the Hopman Cup.
Agnieszka Radwanska defeated 22-year-old Watson in the tie's opener with a 6-3 6-1 victory before Murray levelled proceedings with a 6-2 6-4 win over Jerzy Janowicz in Perth, Australia.
The British number one lost his service game as Janowicz took a 2-0 lead before Murray hit back, winning nine straight games to wrestle control of the contest.
But Poland kept their undefeated run intact and solidified their status as Group B leaders with a 6-4 6-4 win in the doubles decider.
Great Britain, who meet Australia on Friday (9 January), must now hope France win against Poland to keep their chances of reaching Saturday's final alive.
