Arnold Schwarzenegger is offering his fans the opportunity to provide the picture to be used on the back cover of his autobiography.

The book, titled Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, will recount how Schwarzenegger rose from simple beginnings in a village in Austria through a bodybuilding career into the world of acting and eventually politics.

Schwarzenegger, 64, was the iconic centrepiece of a boom in action cinema throughout the 80s and 90s and starred in huge hits such as Terminator, Predator and Total Recall.

Winding down his acting career, he announced his candidacy for the position of governor of California in 2003. He won the election and served two terms.

In a statement on his website, he told his fans that he could not decide on which aspect of his life to focus on on the book's back cover.

"When you've had such different careers, it's hard to choose only one image for a book like this," he said.

"I love bodybuilding, I loved acting and I loved serving the people of California. I wanted to use the jacket to share the joy I took from each of those stages of my life with you. Every book will have the same front cover but the back cover of the jacket will showcase the three major stages of my life."

Fans are asked to access Schwaerzenegger's new Pintrest account and add images to be used in the book.

"Trust me, if I do use your image, I'll thank you in the book," he said.

IBtimes UK wonders if one of the chosen images will show the day Schwarzenegger joined London Mayor Boris Johnson to show support for the 'Boris' Bike programme.
