Overview

Bangladesh play their second game of the tournament, having succumbed to an ignominious loss at the hands of West Indies in their first game.

The defending champions scored 171 runs while the hosts wilted as they chased, scoring just 98 runs. The slump for Bangladesh started in the final qualifier against Hong Kong after having beaten Nepal and Afghanistan comprehensively.

Captain Mushfiqur Rahim will be hoping to turn around his team's fortunes against India, who have been the team to watch for in this tournament.

A loss here will all but scupper any hope they have of finishing in the top two positions and thereby qualify for the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, India have been in imperious form this season, surging ahead in the race to lift their third world cup under captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The ease with which India have managed to see off heavyweights such as Pakistan and West Indies has raised belief among fans that the Men in Blue can come back into business after what has been a frustrating year thus far on the field.

Their bowlers have been the main architects of their success, restricting Pakistan to only 129 runs and following up by holding a belligerent West Indies line-up to 130 runs.

Their batsmen have stuck to the task and made sure that they play sensibly and keep the risk factor down to a minimum when chasing small scores.

A win could seal their place in the top two and confirm a berth in the semi-finals.
