Wizard Liz Arrest Bodycam Shows Police Explaining Why She Was Taken Into Custody

Bodycam footage circulating on TikTok shows the moment police told The Wizard Liz why she was being arrested, with an officer saying she appeared to be the aggressor and later explaining that, in his view, Texas law left officers with 'absolutely zero discretion' in the circumstances.

Liz can be heard questioning why her former partner Landon Nickerson was not also being arrested. The officer says police had spoken to both parties and that the decision was based on the accounts given during the incident.

Wizard Liz Questions Why Police Were Arresting Her

As officers prepare to take Liz into custody, she asks why Nickerson is not also being arrested.

'Why aren't you arresting him also?' she asks.

An officer responds: 'Cause based on the stories, it sounds like you're the aggressor.'

The exchange came after police questioned the pair about an alleged physical altercation. Later in the footage, an officer asks Nickerson whether Liz said that she hit him, and he confirms that she did.

The officer also refers to previous incidents involving the pair, saying it was not their first fight.

Officer Explains Why Police Were Making an Arrest

The officer later explains why police are proceeding with the arrest despite questions over whether Liz needs to be taken to jail.

'This is one of the few offenses that we have absolutely zero discretion on,' the officer says.

The officer tells Liz that the penal code provides that when an offence is articulated, a peace officer 'shall make the arrest,' rather than leaving the decision to officers' discretion.

He says police had spoken to both parties and gathered information before making the arrest. The officer then explained why he believed police were required to take Liz into custody.

Landon Nickerson Questions the Need for Jail

Nickerson appears to question whether taking Liz to jail is necessary, telling officers he believes the situation can be resolved by separating the pair and allowing things to de-escalate.

He says he called police because he wanted to be let back into the house, not because he was afraid of Liz. Nickerson later acknowledges that there were 'a few moments' when he felt genuinely worried.

However, he says Liz is not trying to hit him and is instead angry with him and calling him a terrible person.

'This situation is not resolved by taking her to jail,' Nickerson tells officers.

Despite his objections, the officer tells him the decision has already been made and that there is nothing he can say or do to change it.

Liz Describes Her Relationship With Nickerson

During the encounter, Liz also gives officers background on her relationship with Nickerson.

She says she had previously lived in Dubai before moving to the US on a K-1 visa after Nickerson encouraged her to relocate. Liz says she was pregnant at the time and alleges that Nickerson cheated on her while she was four months pregnant.

She also says she became upset after looking through Nickerson's phone and finding material involving another woman.

After Nickerson confirms that Liz said she hit him, an officer asks him to rate his physical pain from zero to 10.
