Hailey Bieber Staged Paparazzi
Hailey Bieber attends an event as renewed attention focuses on her paparazzi encounters haileybieber/Instagram

Hailey Bieber is facing renewed staging claims after a resurfaced paparazzi video was shared on TikTok, showing her apparently conversing with photographers while navigating a dead-end area. The footage has reignited scrutiny months after Bieber dismissed claims that she calls paparazzi on herself as 'so icky'.

The clip has attracted attention because Bieber appears to discuss where she should go with the photographers before saying, 'And then I'm just gonna go back'. She then appears to thank them, saying, 'Perfect. Thank you'.

The exchange has prompted some viewers to question whether the encounter was entirely spontaneous. However, the footage does not establish that Bieber contacted the photographers beforehand or arranged for them to be there.

What Happens in the Viral Paparazzi Video

The footage was filmed in West Hollywood on 7 September 2022 and published by The Hollywood Fix the following day. It shows Bieber after dining at Catch Steak without her husband Justin Bieber, with the footage and imagery supplied by BACKGRID.

In the footage, Bieber appears to enter a dead-end area before speaking with the photographers. During the exchange, she appears to discuss where she should go before saying, 'And then I'm just gonna go back'.

After the exchange, Bieber appears to thank the photographer, saying, 'Perfect. Thank you', before continuing on.

For some viewers, Bieber's apparent discussion with the photographers and her subsequent thanks have raised questions about whether the encounter was entirely spontaneous.

That interpretation remains speculation. The footage does not show Bieber contacting the photographers before the encounter or arranging their presence.

Hailey Bieber Called the Claim 'So Icky'

The renewed scrutiny comes after Bieber directly addressed the long-running allegation in an April 2026 interview with Interview Magazine.

During the conversation, editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg raised the claim that Bieber calls paparazzi on herself. She rejected the allegation, describing the idea as 'so icky'.

Ottenberg then said, 'For the record, people, she's not calling the paps', to which Bieber replied, 'No'. PEOPLE subsequently reported on the exchange and her comments about paparazzi culture.

Bieber also described the 'spirit' surrounding paparazzi as 'very dark', saying people do not necessarily ask to be photographed when they are going about their lives.

Why the Old Footage Is Trending Again

The footage was originally published in 2022, years before Bieber addressed the paparazzi rumour in April 2026. Its renewed circulation in August has now put the old encounter back under scrutiny.

A Reddit discussion posted on 24 August also revisited several paparazzi clips involving Bieber, prompting users to debate whether some encounters appeared coordinated.

The distinction is important because the allegation Bieber denied was not simply that she speaks to paparazzi. It was the more specific claim that she personally calls photographers to capture her.

The resurfaced video shows Bieber apparently conversing with the photographers during the encounter. It does not, however, establish that she alerted them to her whereabouts before they arrived.

The footage has therefore renewed scrutiny of a claim Bieber has already rejected, while leaving the central question of whether she arranged the paparazzi encounter unresolved.
