The Cambridge Satchel Company is one of the most iconic British business success stories.
Founded in 2008 by Julie Deane and her mother Freda Thomas, having invested just £600 (€762, $964) to get the idea off the ground, the company has now become a worldwide phenomenon and has moved from operating out of Deane's kitchen to stepping up shop in two prime locations in London.
The Cambridge Satchel Company bags are all hand made in the UK and range from classic satchels with a twist to backpacks, handbags and small leather goods and global popularity has led to an annual turnover of over £13m.
This year has marked an even bigger push for the firm in the global markets after it announced that Index Ventures invested £13m into the group while The Cambridge Satchel Company revealed it had snapped up a range of experience fashion retail personnel, including MrPorter.com's Mario Muttenthaler and Jonny Wooldridge who joins from Marks and Spencer.
Inviting us into The Cambridge Satchel Company's new store on James Street in the hub of London's shopping district, Covent Garden, Deane spoke exclusively to IBTimes TV about why it is more than just creativity, drive and a beautiful product that makes a successful business.
