One of the most anticipated PC games for many years, Diablo 3, has launched across the world with online pre-orders smashing previous records.

Diablo 3 is a fantasy-horror role playing game from Blizzard Entertainment and gamers have been waiting 11 years since the last instalment of the Diablo franchise.

Amazon said that Diablo 3 became the most pre-ordered PC game of all time on its website.

The game went on sale in North America, Latin America and Europe today, though many gamers were left frustrated, after overloaded servers were unable to cope with the amount of people trying to access the game online.

Having waited over a decade to get the chance to return to the fantasy world called Sanctuary, gamers will be hoping Blizzard manages to get to grips with the volume of traffic.
