'Dry Chicken With No Salt or Oil': Spanish Artist Bad Gyal Says Taylor Swift's Music Is 'Bland'
Gyal compared Swift's music to dry chicken and dismissed a hypothetical multimillion-euro collaboration while praising Madonna, Tini and Lali

Spanish urban music star Bad Gyal has sparked fierce debate across the global pop landscape after comparing Taylor Swift's discography to 'dry, unseasoned chicken' and saying she would refuse to record a duet with the American billionaire, even for millions of pounds.
Speaking during an appearance on Marta Fort on Fort Night Show broadcast on Argentine streaming network Blender, the 29-year-old singer, whose legal name is Alba Farelo, dismissed the prospect of working alongside the pop icon, describing Swift's artistic output using the Spanish phrase 'soso, soso', signifying something utterly bland or lacking in flavour.
While clarifying that she has no desire to manufacture a personal feud with the Eras Tour headliner, Bad Gyal drew sharp distinctions between Swift and other global performers, openly expressing enthusiasm for prospective collaborations with pop veteran Madonna and South American singers Tini and Lali.
The comments drew attention in reports published on Thursday, 15 October, as she distinguished artistic preferences from any personal disagreement.
Why Bad Gyal Would Refuse a Taylor Swift Collaboration
Fort asked whether Bad Gyal had experienced problems with another musician or would refuse to collaborate with somebody. The Spanish performer said she had no particular bad experience to recount before naming Swift. She added that she doubted the American singer would want to work with her either.
To illustrate her refusal, Bad Gyal imagined an unlikely Alice in Wonderland-style scenario. Somebody offered her three million euros or three million dollars to make a song with Swift.
'I wouldn't do it,' she said, according to an English translation of her Spanish-language comments. No such payment was proposed, and neither artist indicated they discussed a collaboration.
Bad Gyal said she didn't identify with Swift's ideas or what her music represented. She did not specify an ideology, public statement or particular song. Her explanation did not establish any political disagreement between the artists.
The remarks were firm, but they did not show an argument between the performers. Her response addressed a question about musical compatibility, not an established professional relationship.
Why Taylor Swift's Music Reminded Her of 'Dry Chicken'
The sharper criticism came when Bad Gyal mentioned memes comparing Swift's songs to unappealing food. She referred to a hard-boiled egg and chicken without spices, salt or oil.
Her Spanish description ended with 'soso, soso,' meaning bland or flavourless. The wording matters because 'Just bland,' used in some English accounts, is a translation rather than an English phrase Bad Gyal spoke.
She did not single out an album or song for criticism. The food analogy conveyed her taste without offering a detailed assessment of Swift's music.
A discussion on the satirical Reddit community r/swiftiecirclejerk repeated the chicken comparison on Friday, 16 October. One commenter responded sarcastically, 'Not one single person has ever mentioned this before!' The exchanges illustrate reactions in that forum, not the views of Swift's wider audience.

Bad Gyal also said she did not want to 'start beef' with anybody. She said she chose Swift partly because they were unlikely to meet, and that she could have made a more personal remark about someone else.
She did not identify that person. Her comments also don't establish a feud with Swift, who hasn't been shown to have proposed a recording partnership.
Madonna Gets a Different Answer After Taylor Swift Remarks
Asked about Madonna, Bad Gyal said she would love to collaborate with her. She was equally positive about Argentine singers Tini and Lali, though she acknowledged differences in musical style.
She described Tini, whom she knows, as 'a sweetheart.' Although she does not know Lali personally, Bad Gyal said she liked what she had seen of her. None of these comments announced a confirmed recording project.
The conversation took place during the international tour supporting Bad Gyal's album Más Cara. Scheduled US performances include a concert at The Fillmore Miami Beach on 28 October and another in Dallas on 8 November.
Her willingness to work with Madonna, Tini and Lali contrasted with her rejection of the imagined Swift duet. The interview revealed which collaborations appeal to Bad Gyal without establishing any personal dispute with the American star. Swift did not respond to her views. What remains on record is Gyal's assessment of the music and her stated wish to keep the criticism from becoming personal.
