Donald Trump Takes Aim at Taylor Swift as He Mocks Her TikTok Ranking and Claims 'I'm Number One'
Trump claims to rank on TikTok's top spot, but his latest comparison with Taylor Swift raises more questions than it answers

US President Donald Trump claimed he outranked Taylor Swift on TikTok at a campaign rally in Bullhead City, Arizona, on Wednesday, 14 October.
He claimed he ranked first and the singer 19th, despite publicly available figures showing Swift had nearly twice his following.
The remarks came at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport, where Trump was campaigning for Republican Rep. Andy Biggs ahead of the 3 November midterm elections. Biggs is challenging incumbent Democratic Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs.
'Can you believe it? Taylor Swift is 19. I'm number one,' Trump told supporters. The president also declared, 'They just sent out the ratings.'
However, he did not identify who produced the rankings, when they were compiled or what they measured. That distinction matters because publicly available TikTok statistics tell a different story about the two accounts.
TikTok Figures Put Taylor Swift Ahead of Trump on Followers and Likes
Data recorded by Social Blade on 14 October showed Swift with approximately 33.4 million TikTok followers, compared with 17 million for Trump's personal account.
The difference extended beyond followers. Swift's account had accumulated approximately 279.4 million likes, while Trump's had received around 125.5 million.
Figures from Swift's and Trump's Social Blade profiles show the singer ahead on both measures. However, they do not necessarily disprove every possible interpretation of Trump's remarks.
A ranking based on videos discussing a public figure would measure something different from followers or likes on that person's account.
Trump provided no indication that he was referring to such a ranking. He also did not clarify whether the purported list covered TikTok users worldwide, American accounts, political figures or another category.
During the same speech, Trump claimed he had generated $10 billion for the United States through TikTok. He provided no supporting financial calculation and did not explain how that claim related to his popularity on the platform.
The available account statistics challenge any suggestion that Trump leads Swift in followers or total likes. They cannot establish where either person stands on a ranking whose methodology remains unknown.
Taylor Swift Has Featured in Trump's TikTok Boasts Before
The Arizona remarks echoed an earlier claim Trump made during an Oval Office appearance on 6 July.
At that event, he described himself as TikTok's leading personality and placed Swift at number 11. Again, he cited newly released figures without naming a ranking provider.
The apparent shift from 11th in July to 19th in October does not establish that Swift's popularity declined. Neither claim was accompanied by independently verifiable ranking data.
Earlier promotional material Trump shared described his account as the most-followed and most-watched among world leaders. That is a narrower category than all TikTok personalities.
It also would not explain why Swift, a musician rather than a political leader, appeared in his comparison.

Former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene criticised Trump's previous remarks. During a 7 July appearance on ABC's The View, Greene defended Swift's popularity and questioned the president's attacks on the singer.
The White House also drew attention for social media posts referencing Swift's marriage to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
The couple married at Madison Square Garden in New York on 3 July, and Swift's publicist confirmed the wedding.
After the celebrations, the official White House X account shared a digitally altered image that resembled the venue's wedding announcement.
The edited message read 'TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT,' accompanied by the caption 'IT'S HAPPENED!!!' The political wording appeared in the altered image, not on the arena's actual display.
At Wednesday's rally, Trump again presented his TikTok standing as a newly confirmed achievement. He did not provide the underlying figures or identify the publisher of the purported list.
Public account statistics show Swift ahead in followers and likes. It remains unclear whether Trump's first-place claim refers to another measure, since he didn't cite the ranking.
