EA Sports has completed its list of the 50 highest rated players in Fifa 17, revealing that Real Madrid's Christiano Ronaldo has topped Barcelona's Lionel Messi to claim the top spot as the game's best player.

EA has been revealing the list ten by ten all week (29 August - 2 September) until Thursday, when it revealed numbers ten through 4. The top 3 was announced Friday evening. Messi's teammate Neymar sits in third, one place ahead but rated the same (92) as Luis Suarez.

Ronaldo has been awarded a rating of 94, with Messi given a rating of 93. The two players have been by far and away the best in the world for many years now, trading the Ballon d'Or footballer of the year award since 2008.

The pair has occupied the top two slots in EA's Fifa titles for some time as well. In Fifa 15 Messi was ranked first with a 93 rating, topping Ronaldo's 92, and in Fifa 16 Messi won out again, 94 to 93.
