Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 Receives XXBLK4 Android 4.0.4 Firmware [Tutorial]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (P5100) users now have a chance to upgrade to Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) XXBLK4 firmware. The official firmware can be accessed via Samsung Kies or as an Over-The-Air (OTA) transfer. Users looking to install this firmware manually can check this tutorial. IBTimes UK warns its readers it will not be held responsible for damage to the device during installation.

Firmware Details:

    • PDA: P5100XXBLK4
    • CSC: P5100ODFBLL1
    • Version: 4.0.4
    • Regions: Austria, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Spain

Requirements:

    • Ensure device has at least 80 percent battery charge
    • Ensure appropriate USB drivers are installed on the computer
    • Ensure USB debugging is enabled

To Update Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with XXBLK4 Android 4.0.4 Firmware:

    • Extract the firmware as well as Odin zip files
    • Switch the tablet off
    • Let the device enter Download mode (to do so, press and hold Volume Up and Power and press Volume Down once a warning message appears)
    • Run the Odin executable file
    • Now connect the tablet to the PC using a USB cable (a successful connection is indicated with a message - Added - and a COM port turns yellow with a number in it)
    • In Odin, choose files to be flashed
    • Click on PDA and choose file CODE
    • Click on Phone and choose file MODEM
    • Click on CSC and choose file CSC
    • Click on PIT and choose .pit
    • In Odin, check Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options
    • Click Start to begin installation
    • After installation (a successful installation is indicated by a message - Pass), the device will automatically reboot and the Samsung logo will appear
    • Unplug device from the PC

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 should now be running Android 4.0.4 (firmware build XXBLK4). To verify, browse to Settings > About Tablet
