Kendrick Lamar Keeps Birthday Promise to Meet 7-Year-Old Double Amputee Fan After Devastating Dog Attack

Kendrick Lamar has kept his promise to seven-year-old Romell Frazier Jr., meeting the young Detroit fan in Los Angeles weeks after surprising him with a birthday FaceTime call.

Romell's story first reached Lamar after the boy, who lost both arms in a dog attack earlier this year, told local reporters that his birthday wish was to meet his favourite rapper. Lamar responded on 31 July, Romell's seventh birthday, by calling him on FaceTime and inviting him to visit Los Angeles.

That in-person meeting did not happen on the birthday itself. Complex reported on 28 August that Romell and his family had recently made the trip to Los Angeles, where Lamar fulfilled the promise he made during the call.

A Promise Kept After Months of Recovery

Romell, from Detroit, was six when he was attacked by two pit bulls in March. The injuries were so severe that both of his arms had to be amputated, according to reports. He also suffered serious injuries to his legs, including damage to his right calf and part of his left foot.

After nearly two months in the hospital, Romell returned home in May and began adjusting to a life that had changed overnight. His mother, Preshauna Jones, said at the time that she had become her son's 'hands and arms' as he relearned everyday routines.

'Now, I have to feed him,' Jones said in an earlier interview. 'He was just able to do all of that on his own.'

Kendrick Praised Romell's Strength

During the 31 July birthday call, Lamar told Romell he was glad they had the chance to speak and praised the boy's resilience.

'You continue to be great, continue to keep that smile on your face,' Lamar said, according to earlier reports. 'You're giving us a whole lot of inspiration with how strong you are.'

He also told Romell: 'You got a beautiful life to live.'

When Lamar invited him to Los Angeles, Romell's immediate concern was whether his mother could come too. Jones later said the call was a dream come true for her son and that he would not stop talking about it.

Family Flown Out for First LA Visit

The recent Los Angeles visit was confirmed through social media posts and later reported by Complex. Designer and Delta Air Lines employee Josh Kendrick, who spent time with the family during the trip, shared a photo with Romell and thanked Lamar for making the visit possible.

'Thanks to @kendricklamar — for his kindness and generosity, and for being Romell's favorite rapper — Romell and his entire family were flown out to Los Angeles for their very first visit,' he wrote.

Romell's recovery is still ongoing. Doctors have said he will need further care, including prosthetics, while his family continues to face medical and financial pressures. But Jones has repeatedly said her son remains upbeat despite everything he has endured.

The trip was more than a celebrity meet-up for Romell. It was the fulfilment of a wish he made while recovering from a life-changing attack, and proof that Lamar had not forgotten what he promised.
