Landon Dickerson Injury Update: How the Philadelphia Eagles Depth Chart Could Be Tested Without Their Pro Bowl Guard
Dickerson was helped off the field before being carted away for evaluation

Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson, 26, was carted off on Sunday night, 10 August, after an apparent right-leg injury during the team's open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. The incident happened late in the session before thousands of fans at the charity event for the Eagles Autism Foundation. Helped off by medical staff, Dickerson appeared to struggle putting weight on his leg. Brett Toth replaced him with the first-team offensive line. The team has yet to announce a diagnosis or timeline for his return.
Incident in Front of Thousands of Fans
The injury took place during one of the final series of team drills. According to ESPN, Dickerson went down after contact and was immediately attended to by trainers. He was able to walk with assistance to the cart before being taken off for further evaluation.
The open practice drew a large crowd, with the Eagles wearing special jerseys for auction to raise funds for the Eagles Autism Foundation. The festive atmosphere shifted as fans reacted with concern to the sight of one of the team's most dependable offensive linemen leaving the field.

I’m hoping he simply rolled his right ankle versus this being an Achilles injury. Hard to tell and a lot of squinting.
He didn’t seem to want to step through his right ankle as he was helped off the field.

Official Status and Injury Background
While Dickerson was not on the team's injury report on Sunday, he had been limited in practice on Saturday due to a knee issue. The Eagles have not confirmed whether the two are related.
Head coach Nick Sirianni has not provided a public update beyond confirming that Dickerson is being evaluated. The player has previously dealt with a left-knee injury during the 2024 postseason, which required off-season surgery. The injury on Sunday was to his opposite leg.
Dickerson's Value to the Eagles
Since being drafted 37th overall by Philadelphia in 2021 out of Alabama, Dickerson has become a cornerstone of the Eagles' offensive line. At 6ft 6in and 332 lbs, he has earned Pro Bowl selections in three consecutive seasons (2022–2024).
In March 2024, Dickerson signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $87 million (£64.7 million), with $67.2 million (£50 million) guaranteed, making him one of the highest-paid guards in the NFL. He played a key role in the Eagles' run to Super Bowl LIX and in Saquon Barkley's record-setting 2024 rushing campaign.
Potential Impact on the Eagles' Depth Chart
If Dickerson is unable to play, the Philadelphia Eagles depth chart could be tested ahead of the 2025 season. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, Brett Toth has filled in during training camp previously, appearing in 20 career games with two starts. Tyler Steen remains the starting right guard, while reserves such as Matt Pryor and Darian Kinnard are also available for consideration.
Changes to the interior line could affect offensive continuity during the remainder of training camp and in upcoming pre-season games. The coaching staff may explore positional shifts or free-agent options if Dickerson's recovery extends into the regular season.
What's Next for Philadelphia
The Eagles are scheduled to resume training this week before their next pre-season fixture. Medical evaluations will determine Dickerson's availability, and the team is expected to provide an official injury update in the coming days.
For now, the focus remains on assessing the severity of the injury and preparing contingency plans to maintain the strength of one of the NFL's top-ranked offensive lines.
