Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is set to be first on new manager Louis van Gaal's list should he be appointed as the new manager of Manchester United, according to the Sun.

The Dutch national team manager has earmarked his compatriot as his first big money signing after moving to Old Trafford, as he looks to bring United back to winning ways after a disappointing campaign.

Van Gaal, who is acquainted with Robben from the national team, feels that he will be a major addition to the side and given his experience with the Premier League during his time with Chelsea, will help United get back into the Champions League.

The 30-year-old has signed a new contract with the Bavarians recently but United may make a £25m bid for the player, something which will be difficult for Bayern to resist.

This will be the second time Van Gaal will be signing Robben, given he was the one who brought him to Munich in 2009, where he played a big part in helping the Bavarians win the Bundesliga.

Bayern are looking to regroup after a calamitous campaign in the Champions League under new manager Pep Guardiola after losing 5-0 in aggregate to Real Madrid and may look to cash in on Robben to make money for transfers in the summer.

Meanwhile, Patrice Evra has revealed that this is a season he wants to forget pretty quickly given the nightmares his team had to suffer on the pitch.

"This year has been a disaster. This year we have been really poor. We deserve all the criticism. We have not played well enough. We have lost some stupid games," Evra said.

"When we are on the pitch we try to win every game but it's been so painful this season, it's been a nightmare. When I look at the table I just feel a big frustration.

"This year is a season I want to forget really quickly," he concluded.
