Melania Trump is a woman of few words. Unlike the other first ladies before her, she rarely gives speeches or comments on her husband's works and controversies. Melania is also known for having a stern face that makes it seem as if she rarely smiles.

But what supporters and critics alike might forget is the fact that Melania is just like anyone else. She is a human with feelings, and she is also a mother with a heart. Even though she rarely releases a statement on important happenings in the US, she was forced to do so this week.

What Happened to Alex Pretti?

Donald Trump's wife made a rare comment following the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. ICE agents wrestled Pretti to the ground before shooting him in the chest. A video shows the agents running away from the scene following the incident.

The Trump administration once again sided with the ICE agents, who were allegedly just defending themselves from the victim. Pretti allegedly had a semi-automatic handgun and was violently resisting officials. However, it was later shown in a video that Pretti was holding a phone in his hand and not a gun.

A Call for Unity

In her statement, Melania urged for peaceful protests and mentioned her husband. She said that the president had already talked with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to ensure that the tragedy would not happen again.

'I'm calling for unity. I know my husband, the president, had a great call yesterday with the governor and the mayor, and they're working together to make it peaceful and without riots. I'm against the violence, so please, if you protest, protest in peace. And we need to unify in this time,' she said.

Within a month, two innocent people have already been killed by ICE agents. A similar incident happened in Minneapolis after Renee Good was fatally shot whilst inside her car. At the time, the Trump administration also insisted that ICE agents defended themselves from the woman.

Following the back-to-back incidents, Trump removed Customs and Border Protection's Commander at Large Greg Bovino from his post. The president also sidelined Kristi Noem from leading the ICE operations. She is replaced by her long-time rival, Tom Homan.

Juggling Multiple Things at the Same Time

Whilst Melania is busy making a statement about the shootings, she is also preoccupied with promoting her biographical film titled 'Melania'. The release of the film globally on 30 January couldn't be more untimely following the recent events.

'Melania' will centre on the life of the first lady following the POTUS' second inauguration. It is also the first movie produced by the first lady's production company, Muse Films. There are predictions that Melania wouldn't be a success. After all, it is estimated to make around $1 million compared to the millions of investment poured into it.

Rolling Stone also revealed that there are some serious labour issues faced on set. Several staff members who worked on the project do not want their names to appear in the credits either.
