Miley Cyrus Announces New Album 'Bass Persuades' Exploring Heartache and a Layered Love Story

Following a post indicating that she will drop her surname on her music, Miley Cyrus shared new details about her upcoming album. Cyrus, who now goes simply by 'Miley' on social media, announced that her upcoming album would be called 'Bass Persuades', which will be released on 18th September.

Cyrus also teased her return to the stage, sharing information about two shows later this year happening in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl. The 'Hannah Montana' star had announced she was making new music a day prior.

New Details About 10th Studio Album 'Bass Persuades'

Cyrus had spoken about making new music recently, but it was only now that she shared further details about her newest album, 'Bass Persuades'. The singer shared the concept behind it on an Instagram post:

'Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong,' she said. 'Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That's what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. [heart emoji] Miley.'

Cyrus also uploaded a video of herself shredding an electric guitar in a white jumpsuit, with music in the background that will likely be featured in the upcoming album.

Cyrus previously called 'Bass Persuades' a 'layered love story' before revealing more about the album. 'There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it's a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras.'

'A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I've found for myself,' she said.

Cyrus had also recently gotten engaged to Maxx Morando, so these statements about love may carry more weight if she sings about her fiancé in 'Bass Persuades'.

Returning to Stage for First Solo Performance

Soon after she announced the title and release date of 'Bass Persuades', Cyrus revealed that she will be doing a two-night show in the Hollywood Bowl in October to celebrate the release of the new project. Cyrus hasn't toured in years and rarely performs in large venues, so the announcement was a welcome surprise for longtime fans.

Along with the announcement, Cyrus said that the Hollywood Bowl is her 'favourite place to experience music and see [her] favourite artists.'

'I've sat in those seats many times, but I've never taken the stage,' she added. 'LA is my heart and I'm bringing it home. See you there.'

Paying Homage to Godmother Dolly Parton

Only a few days before announcing her new album, Cyrus dedicated a post to her godmother, Dolly

Parton, who passed away on 25th August in the company of her family. The Tennessee-born music artists were linked by Cyrus' father, Billy Ray, who was friends with Parton.

'The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they'll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.'

'What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong,' the artist continued. 'I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.'

Now going simply by 'Miley', Cyrus ventures into a new era as 'Bass Persuades' releases on 18th September this year.
