Mumbai Indians take on the Gujarat Lions in the ninth match of the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 16 April.

Where to watch live

Match starts at 3.30pm BST/8pm IST. Live coverage is on Sky Sports 2 and Sky Sports 2 HD in the UK. Sony Max, Sony Six and Sony ESPN will telecast it in India.

Overview

Mumbai Indians welcome high flying Gujarat Lions to the Wankhede stadium for their third game and will be keen to continue their winning momentum following their triumph over Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous encounter. The Rohit Sharma-led team lost their opening encounter to the Pune Supergiants, who are one of the two new entrants in this edition of the IPL, and will be keen to avoid another loss this early in the campaign.

The Lions, on the other hand, are the only team to have played two games and won both, the first against Kings XI Punjab and their second against fellow newcomers the Supergiants from Pune. The Suresh Raina-led team are well balanced in the bowling and batting department. Dale Steyn and Dwayne Bravo lead the bowling attack, while Brendan McCullum, Suresh Raina and Aaron Finch lead a strong batting lineup, which makes them a threat to every team in the league.
