Olivia Marie Clendenin of Ohio fired multiple rounds during a New Year's Eve party after realising her husband and her boyfriend were at the same party at a Dearth Road in Clearcreek Township home. She was convicted of attempted murder. A man who was sitting on a porch was nearly killed during the shooting.

Police said on Tuesday, 3 February, that 29-year-old Clendenin from Franklin was also found guilty of felonious assault and improper discharge of a firearm into a habitation for the shooting on 1 January 2026 in the 5500 block of Dearth Road in Clearcreek Township.

According to a police press release shared by People, Clendenin fired eight shots in total using a .40-calibre handgun after a failed attempt to convince her husband to leave the party. A 29-year-old male victim was hit by the shots in the abdomen. Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell said in a statement, 'The victim had simply been invited to a New Year's Eve party and found himself in the middle of Clendenin's barrage of gunfire.'

Fornshell also said, 'Clendenin may have started 2025 as a free person but will spend the rest of 2026 and at a minimum the decade thereafter incarcerated for attempting to murder at least one of her romantic interests — albeit striking and almost killing an innocent victim.' Also, according to the prosecutor, Olivia Clendenin's conviction came from a Warren County jury.

Before her sentencing, the police will conduct a pre-sentence investigation.

The New Year's Eve Party Shooting

In a WKRC report, investigators reported that Clendenin decided to head to the home hosting the party after learning of the presence of both her estranged husband and her boyfriend, who, earlier that evening, had learned about their simultaneous involvement with Clendenin. Clendenin's husband confided to the police that he had reason to believe his wife was responsible for the shooting.

The host of the party was said to be Clendenin's boyfriend. According to the Dayton Daily News, Clendenin arrived at the party furious that her boyfriend and husband had been hanging out together. Clearcreek police Lt. Wallace Stacy said Clendenin 'drove through the front yard and fired shots toward the house' after leaving the New Year's Eve party.

The report said Clendenin proceeded to crash the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which belonged to her mother, in the 3800 block of McLean Road in Franklin TWP, a short distance from the party, striking a guardrail and utility pole, according to a crash report from the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Clendenin's Charges

Clendenin was also indicted for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, and a misdemeanour count of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, but the prosecutor's office decided to drop these charges, per Dayton Daily News.

Law & Crime shared a grand jury report stating, that the 'defendant attempted to cause the death of another by shooting a firearm from a motor vehicle. Defendant caused serious physical harm to the person shot and was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the offence.'

The 29-year-old random male guest at the party who sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach was rushed into surgery and is expected to survive.
