A pet African bullfrog has shown off his skills by participating in a mobile phone game.

The frog is faced with a game where ants crawl across the mobile phone screen. As the insects walk across the screen the frog lunges at them, squishing the virtual ants.

The nimble green critter snaps at the ants with quick reflexes but it doesn't all end so well.

As its owner reaches for the phone to reactivate the game, the frog aims for a finger and bites on his thumb.

Only this time, the frog doesn't back away to get ready for its next move, instead grasping on tightly to the man's thumb who then cries out in grief.

The video was uploaded to YouTube by user KoreanFrogMania on December 17 and has already attracted more than 7.2 million views.

However, the pet bullfrog is not the first animal to have been filmed playing the mobile phone app - an earlier video of a "Bearded Dragon playing [the] Ant Crusher" mobile phone game has been viewed more than 4.6 million times since it was uploaded on November 7.
