Ju Haknyeon of K-pop group, The Boyz, has been kicked out by the group's label, One Hundred. In an official statement posted on Kpop Charts' X, the management confirmed making the final decision for Ju Haknyeon to leave the group and to terminate his exclusive contract.

K-pop scandals are nothing new, but this departure hits differently. Ju Haknyeon is getting the ax not for bullying, nor for drugs, but for getting too comfy with Kirara Asuka, a retired Japanese adult film star.

According to News1 Korea, in a questionnaire obtained from Japanese media Shukan Bunshun, Ju Haknyeon visited a bar in Ropopongi with Japanese acquaintances. It was reported that the K-pop idol was out drinking with Asuka until the early hours of the next morning. The former adult film star was said to have been caught acting comfortable with Ju Haknyeon, such as resting her chin on his shoulder.

'We have realized that it has become difficult to maintain our trust in him as an artist,' reads One Hundred's statement.

Fans are divided over the turn of events. Some feel betrayed, while others laud him for having a real night out.

'He's not a monk, he's a man,' one user tweeted, before their account mysteriously went private.

Meanwhile, Ju Haknyeon sent shocking last messages to fans before his exit from the group. On 16 June, he sent two brief texts to fans via a fan communication app called 'From.'

'Ju Haknyeon: "I've really been wanting to say this."'

'Ju Haknyeon: 'Thank you so, so much for just liking me for who I am-"'

These messages have drawn scathing comments from fans who feel betrayed, pointing out his lack of remorse and concern for them. According to them, Ju Haknyeon should at least address the controversy and see how it would affect his fans.

Ju Haknyeon rose to fame after appearing on Mnet's 'Produce 101 Season 2.' He debuted as a member of The Boyz in 2017. Meanwhile, Kirara Asuka debuted in the AV industry in 2007 and retired in 2020. She is now active as a social media influencer.

Per One Hundred Label, The Boyz will continue to be a 10-member group. They assured fans that they will fully support the remaining members in maintaining a 'stable environment for future promotions.'

Idol or Inmate?

In the squeaky-clean world of K‑pop, even hugging the wrong person can mean career death. But here's the real question: Are we still expecting our idols to be dolls in display cases—perfect, pure, and permanently single?
